Ryan as Goalie

I forgot the date but Ryan had the opportunity to play goalie during a Saturday game in Austin. He did a great job playing goalie and thought after the game that he needed to get his own goalie gear. Yeah, right….

Here are some pictures Jeanee took…

Hockey Fight, Player Wears A Mic So You Can Hear How It Starts

This was from a game this season between Phoenix and Los Angeles. 2 heavyweights drop the gloves in a sportsman-like manner. Sound comes in about halfway.

Krystal’s 7th Birthday Party

We celebrated Krystal’s 7th birthday parth with friends in Austin on 11/18. It was a great time and different for us. It was great to see lots of Krystal’s new friends in Austin and to see Krystal have a blast with them. Krystal wanted a build-a-bear party at the mall. So, she got it.

The neat part about the party was when all the kids got together in a circle to add the stuffing to the animals and passed around little hearts from each child and Krystal got to put those hearts from each person in her stuffed animal.

Some pictures are here.

The other fun thing was watching both Ryan and Krystal go overboard purchasing accessories for the stuffed animals. Krystal ended up with a dog with a princess outfit with a puppy. We had to go back and get that dog a leash as well :-) Ryan also got a dog but decked it out with UT boxer shorts, a leather jacket and roller skates. (ouch, that hurt the checking account)

New Year’s with Wii

When we went to Greg and Sheri’s house we were introduced to the Wii.. We had (2) Wii consoles and (7) controllers.  The Wii is a great game console for the kids and parents to play games interactively.  The Wii sports were fun and Ryan enjoyed bowling while Krystal loved Tennis.

I got a little to much into bowling for Greg as I had this desire to take a million steps, bowl, pitch a leg out, and be about (4) inches away from my brothers 50″ Plasma :-)

After spending a couple days playing the Wii, I now have permission to buy one.  If only any stores had them in stock.  The only think I did not like about the Wii was the cheesy graphics on some games.  One racing game we played, I forgot the name, I thought I was back in the Pole Position days.

Aunt Julie getting down…

So, for New Years we spent a couple days at Greg’s house. It was a good time and kids played up a storm. One of the highlights of the event was listening Julie get down on the karaoke. Check out these shots.

Ryan’s 1st travel hockey tournament

Thanksgiving day 2006 Ryan travelled to Dallas to play in his first ever travel tournament as a hockey player. The Dallas folks had (4) teams and Houston, Ryan’s old hometown, and Austin were the only teams from out of town at the mite level. The Austin team did not win any games against the Dallas teams but played a really close final playoff game against Houston.

The good thing about the tournament is that it introduced us all to travel hockey. My final reaction of the event was, this is a lot of fun. Ok, it was not that fun watching the boys get stomped by some really high caliber Dallas teams but the team unity and extra curricular functions were lots of fun.

My favorite thing was pin trading. This is where the players trade team pins with other players and the goal is to get as many unique pins from other teams as possible. The entire family went and Luke and Clay joined us. Everyone traded pins including Krystal and myself. I had fun with Krystal trading pins with players and we ended up with a nice collection of pins.

Our next tournament is in Dallas mid-January. For that tournament we are going to stay in the hotel with the rest of the team and get the entire experience :-)

I put together a website of the action shots Jeanee took from the tournament here.
