Happy Mother’s Day 2007

Yesterday before baseball Jeanee and I were watching some home movies before the kids got up. This video of little Krystal brought back some good mommy memories. Jeanee and I thought this video is a good illustration of remembering when the kids were so small and then comparing them to today.

Thanks for the mommies, especially ours. Thanks for your patience and gentle touch while we grew up. Being a mommy is such a huge job that is more important than anything in the world. I often think about all the stuff that my wife does for our kids and that makes me wonder about all the things that my mommy did for me that I do not remember.

Thanks mom…

Krystal’s 1st Grade Awards

Krystal 1st grade awards

On Friday 5/11 Krystal had her end of year learning celebration. During the learning celebration Krystal presented all of her major work for the year. The work included her journal from the beginning of the year to now. It was amazing to see how much her writing has improved in one school year. Her reading progess was also monumental. After sharing her work with us her teacher presented awards to students. Krystal received (2) awards:
1. Stellar Speller Award for getting mostly 100’s on all her spelling tests
2. The good behavior award for being on green and very rarely moving her magnets to yellow. Krystal typically almost came home on green or better. Green means she behaved as expected and on some days she got a frog sticker which mean she behaved better than expected.

Her teacher also did a slideshow of pictures that was great to see the kids and all the activities they participated in. School ends in a couple weeks and Krystal is moving on to 2nd grade. Man, how time flies. I am very proud of Krystal and her 1st grade accomplishments.

Two game winning hits…

Tonight we competed in our 2nd round of baseball playoffs for the LCP league. Last night the game ended in a tie and went into extra innings. The league does extra innings with 2 outs and a runner at 2nd. The Rockies had to hold the Jays by getting an out to get a bat. They did it…

Next up at the plate was Mr. Ryan and he hit a double and the runner on second scored and that was the ballgame. Rockies Win!!!!

Tonight the Rockies played again and we were home. The Rockies were down in the 5th inning and needed 5 runs to tie in 15 mins. The coaching staff made a high risk decision and chose to take (3) quick outs so the team can start the 6th inning before time in the game expired. In the LCP league the team if you get to the 6th inning the team can get (10) runs instead of the normal (5). It was a risk and the Rockies held the Braves to only (2) runs after taking the (3) outs.

I believe the Rockies needed (7) runs to win. Ryan started the 6th inning with a single. Then the rest of the Rockies hit and Ryan was up again. Ryan hit a hard ball between 2nd and 3rd and it trickled to the fence. (2) runs scored and Ryan ran home while the ball was being thrown home. He’s safe, Rockies Win!!!!

It was a great game and it was awesome to get (2) game winning hits two nights in a row. The coaching decision to take the quick 3 outs in the 5th was great strategy.
