Yesterday Krystal mentioned that she wants to get on the ice with Dad and Ryan at Stick and Puck. So, today we geared her up and she had some fun on the ice. She skated really well and had a lot of fun.

Notice something about this picture that the girls are holding up and that they have on some of their shorts? I have been coaching youth sports for many years and last season I started purchasing and rewarding soccer players with patches.

Why are the patches so great?
The players are eager to see what patches they earned. When players do great things they make sure to find me on the sidelines to remind me of the assist they got or the goal they scored to make sure I have it down. My soccer teams went from good kids learning and having fun to winning teams thirsty to learn while having lots of fun.

What patches do I give out?
First, I give out many types. I make sure that the players know they are earned and that the gold star patch is the highest honored patch on my team. The gold star is for an assist. I also give out patches for hustle, being tough, passing, goals, and attendance/sportsmanship.

The website I buy these from is soccerhelp.com and I was skeptical the first time I bought them.

Thought I would gather a few good shots of Ryan playing Mite hockey last season and post them. Just in case you did not know he is not in Squirts and is playing goalie and Defense. I am also the head coach of his team which is a BLAST!!!

We attended a local circus last year and saw these motorcycle guys riding in a dome. It was the highlight of the circus and it was something we have not done before. Well, I recorded the motorcycles with my then new Coolpix S6 and I thought I would share the videos with everyone below. I went and did some research that weekend and found that the bigger circus’ do the same with more than (5) motorcycles but the dome is larger. I think the video with (4) motorcycles looked the most difficult. This dome was not that big and that is what amazed me.

Also, if you notice that a player has 10x more pictures than another it is most likely due to the action of the game at the time. As more pictures are taken at games the number of pictures will work out per player. No worries…

Krystal had a good soccer game on Saturday. This was her first time to volunteer to be goalie during a soccer game. She had a lot of fun playing goalie and got the most shots on goal for the entire game. She did good and got in the dirt and stopped a few. I was very proud of her for being so aggressive.
